Homicide Investigation: 2700 Block of N. Armistead Avenue
On January 24, 2009, at approximately 2 a.m., the Hampton Police Division received a
complaint of a shooting victim in the 2700 block of N. Armistead Avenue. Officers, along
with the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division responded to the scene and located a male
victim suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that the victim was in a parking lot in the 2700 block of N.
Armistead Avenue when and altercation ensued between the victim and a suspect. During
the altercation the suspect shot the victim then fled the scene in a vehicle. A description of
the possible suspect vehicle was relayed to officers and several minutes later officers
located a vehicle matching that description. A traffic stop was conducted in the area of
Kecoughtan Road and Pocahontas Place and the driver of that vehicle was detained and is
currently being interviewed by detectives.
The victim is a 29-year-old Hampton man, whose identity is being withheld until next of kincan be notified. The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
